We spoke with hundreds of SharePoint professionals on the floor at SharePoint Fest in Seattle Washington recently and found ourselves in the familiar position of giving advice on the advantages of migrating from an on-premise SharePoint deployment to a partner-hosted private cloud, or a managed SharePoint cloud in a customer’s Azure environment. As always, the discussion centered around the economic advantages of reducing the time and effort their IT department spent managing the cloud solution, and the technical advantages of guaranteed performance, higher levels of security, customization and application integration afforded by a dedicated physical or virtual cloud solution. Fortunately, Project Hosts had answers and customer examples for both.
When evaluating the move from an on-premise solution managed internally, to a cloud environment managed by a CSP (Cloud Service Provider) such as Project Hosts, the deciding factors came down to cost and the ability to free up IT staff in order to focus on more mission critical solutions for their company. Put simply, many businesses would prefer to have the control and security that a private cloud offers, but don’t want to take on the specialized job of SharePoint and SharePoint-based application management and configuration, user management and ongoing maintenance.
Project Hosts has more than 12 years of experience in hosting and managing Microsoft cloud solutions. We are equally adept at migrating an on-premise environment, and managing it once it’s operational. We even offer a Remote SharePoint Administrator service to help companies with the ongoing management of their SharePoint Cloud – whether it’s in a public cloud from Microsoft, in their on-premise deployment, or in their Azure cloud.
